The Diver Medic Technician Refresher Course is an IMCA accredited course which comprises of 5 days duration including 35 contact hours in class with practical based scenarios. The DMT certificate is valid for 2 years.

Course Eligibility

To qualify for an IMCA DMT (Diver Medical Technician) qualification, applicants must:

Hold an offshore qualification in diving. This can be an LST, diving supervisor or commercial diving qualification recognised by IMCA (Offshore grade) or the Health and Safety Executive.

Candidates attending the course must ensure they are fit and healthy and free of any existing injuries. The course can be quite arduous and is mentally and physically demanding.

· Diving Related Illness: Barotrauma

· Advanced Life Support

· Control & Management of Dive Related Injury or Illness

· Insertion of Chest Drain

· Patient Examination

· Basic Anatomy & Physiology

· Intraosseous Infusion

· Use of Defibrillator

· Oxygen Administration

· Catheterisation

· Managing Decompression illness

· Drugs and Pharmacology

· Suturing

· Use of DMAC equipment


Learning Outcomes

A qualified DMT (Diver Medical Technician) should be :

· Capable of administering advanced first aid and emergency treatment.

· Efficient in carrying out the directions of a doctor in a diving environment.

The DMT Refresher course costs £690 including VAT, meals and refreshments.
