This Police D13 course is designed for all Police Officers, with a particular focus on those in specialist roles such as firearms, public order, surveillance, and officers of the Serious and Organised Crime Agency.

It is also suitable for officers from agencies like the UK Border Agency and HM Revenue and Customs. The course lasts for 5 days and includes classroom-based instruction as well as practical scenarios utilizing our SimMan resources, live casualties, and skills houses.

Upon successful completion, participants will be awarded a certificate by the Emergency Services Training Centre, which remains valid for 3 years.

Course Eligibility

No prior qualifications are required to attend this training course, although having basic first aid training would be beneficial. Participants should note that there will be some pre-course reading material that needs to be completed before attending the training.

Course Content

Standard Level First Aid including:

• Scene management

• Care of an unconscious casualty

• Basic Life Support

• Ballistic injuries

• Automated External Defibrillation

• Management of breathing problems

• Use of haemostatic dressings

• Treatment of abdominal wounds

• Burns and scalds

• Medical conditions such as diabetes

• Poisoning
